Samay is an internationally known professional Middle East dance artist, instructor and choreographer. She has extensively traveled the Middle East and organizes excursions to the Middle East to acquire the technique and cultural aspects of Middle Eastern Dance including raks sharki (proper term for belly dance in middle east) and folklore. In 2004 Samay was awarded first place in the Ahlan Wa Sahlan International festival and competition in Cairo Egypt hosted by world renowned Raqia Hassan. Samay has been featured as a performer and instructor in the Ahlan Wa Sahlan festival, the largest Raks Sharki festival in the Middle East. She was recently featured in Europe and will be returning in 2009 as featured performer and instructor.
Samay has had the honor of studying and or participating in seminars with world renowned Egyptian and local artist such as Raqia Hassan, Yousry Sharif, Dina, Nagwa Fouad, Mahomoud Reda, Horacio and Beata Cifuentes, Tamalyn Dallal (Samay's main instructor), Jihan Jamal, Maria Jamal, Ylsa and many more.
Samay is director and choreographer of Samay Mideast Performing Company. Samay Mideast Performing Company ha performed locally and internationally including Cairo Egypt. They have performed for opening of concerts featuring famous Arabic singers Nancy Ajram and Shireen. Have also been featured in Norwegian Cruise lines and on local and international television. Samay is proud to have trained many future performers and instructors in South Florida and is determined to continue the hard work and dedication of training future stars.
Samay is a well recognized instructor based in Miami Florida. She presently has one of the largest Middle East Dance programs in the U.S.A. at Miami Dade College Kendall Campus. Within the program, students learn the importance and understand all aspects of the art form such as movement, history of dance and music, as well as different styles of raks sharki and folklore from all regions of the Middle East. Every year she choreographs and directs a belly dance showcase featuring over 200 performers. It is one of the most awaited for events of the year. Her goal as an artist and instructor is to have others embrace the art form of Middle Eastern Dance.
